We believe our love for better furniture shouldn’t come at the expense of Mother Nature. Mango wood, the heart of most of our pieces, is not only known for its rich character and durability but also for its sustainable sourcing. You can read more about it here. So to celebrate World Environment Day, we wanted to show you that our commitment to the environment goes far beyond just the materials we use.
Sourcing with Sustainability in Mind:
We understand the importance of responsible sourcing of timber. That is why we partner exclusively with suppliers certified by VRIKSH, the leading standard in India that verifies the legality and sustainability of wood sources. This ensures the trees used in our furniture are harvested responsibly. We intend to protect the precious ecosystems for generations to come and only use timber from sustainable sources. You can learn more about VRIKSH certification here. Additionally, we strictly adhere to the UK Timber Regulations (UKTR), which promote sustainable forest management practices (more details here).
Minimising Our Footprint:
Our dedication to sustainability extends far beyond just the raw material. In our production facilities, the aim is to recycle anything that can be. For example, sawdust – a natural by-product of woodworking – is re-purposed as fuel in our factories.
In our warehouse, we are constantly recycling and re-purposing packaging and have an in-house repair team to fix almost perfect furniture pieces that go on to be sold as clearance. In our office, we use recycling bins to encourage our employees to separate and recycle where possible.
We also take great care to reduce our carbon footprint during transportation. By utilising low-emission ocean freight and meticulously planning deliveries to ensure full routes, we minimise the environmental impact of getting our furniture to you.
