2014 has flown by so far, it’s strange to think that we are now about half way through the year. It’s true, the summer sun hasn’t come out for overly long periods yet but there is plenty of time yet. While it hasn’t been overly sunny, it has been fairly warm and that is a step in the right direction but what can you do to make the most of the weather?

There are a huge number of ways you can enjoy the summer and we want to hear about them! Get in touch and tell us about where you like to go, what you like to do and why. You never know, you might just discover something interesting along the way.

Exploring the great outdoors

You might be looking to go somewhere new or stay in the comfort of your garden. There has never been a better time of the year to do this with your family and friends and create some amazing memories. You may have guessed by now that we’re a fan of barbeques and are looking forward to a bit more sun so that we can enjoy them properly but what’s to stop you packing a few chairs and heading off into the country, enjoy some food and relaxing somewhere new?

If chairs are too big or bulky for your needs, choose a blanket and settle on the grass while you enjoy good weather and company. You’ll be amazed at the places you can find even close to where you live.

Keeping it simple

If exploring the country isn’t for you then look at interesting places to visit close and further afield. Historical buildings, museums, exhibitions and such can be found all around the country, proving to be a great day out without being overly expensive.

Or you can stay at home and entertain there – or be entertained by others. With long days and nights, it’s time to make the most of your time and make this a summer you won’t forget. If you have any top class summer recipes to share then please do – it will give people even more reason to try something new this summer!

Festivals and events

They’re not for everyone but there are a huge number of festivals running throughout the summer. They could be the big ones such as Glastonbury, V Festival and such or much smaller ones you don’t hear much about. More than those, many cities, towns and villages hold their own festivals, markets and events which really allow you to embrace something different.

They can be indoors or outdoors, in one location or spread across a field or square but it doesn’t matter. It’s a time to relax, have fun and try something new. Two examples close to us are the Village Pump Festival in July and the West Country Carnival – definitely worth seeing.
