Furniture For Your Home, And Your Future
When it comes to furnishing your home, it’s more than just choosing pieces that fit your current style. It’s about creating a space that evolves
They're a category of furniture often overlooked, Home Storage. As, though we use, abuse and overuse our storage, we often neglect the actual storage needs we have. This includes forgetting how often we need to update and, more often than not vastly increase our storage.
Though not often considered the most exciting pieces of furniture to buy, we are trying to turn this around. You see, we feel that when you find the right pieces, they'll always excite and inspire you.
It's odd how little we consider storage furniture, seeing as one of the most common issues we face in our homes is where do we put everything? Whether it's the carnage our children wreak, the hoarding our hobbies bring, or the general need for storage in our day to day lives.
This is why it’s so very important to be smart with our storage, it’s not enough to just have storage space, we need to tailor it to both our needs, and the space we inhabit.
It's important to recognise there are two styles of storage. Firstly we have out of sight, out of mind, these are the Wardrobes, the Chests of Drawers and the Sideboards. These are designed for maximum occupancy and efficiency. Whether you organise or disorganise, they'll easily cope with swathes of belongings.
Often the most commonly found component in bedroom furniture, chests are a brilliant way to seriously maximise storage space. And when space is at a premium, Tallboys are a brilliant way to take advantage of height.
It's not just in the bedroom they come in handy. Many a living room or dining area has benefitted from the incredible organisational benefits of a sideboard. Large or small, they certainly make a difference.
The other style is the 'display,' this is where we know that our stored items will be seen. However it's more of a galleria than a hidden store.
It is here that bookshelves and display cabinets really come into their own. Here it's not necessarily how much you can store, but how well can you organise it to showcase your personality.
So when you curate your collections, consider some display storage. It would be a shame to have a wonderful collection of books and keep them hidden.
Sometimes it's also the accessibility of home storage that needs to be considered. Large drawers and big swinging doors may not be suitable for the younger members of our family. Sometimes a well placed blanket box can become the worlds best toy chest.
