Furniture For Your Home, And Your Future
When it comes to furnishing your home, it’s more than just choosing pieces that fit your current style. It’s about creating a space that evolves
Working from home is a popular option for an increasing number of people. Whether this is on your own business, because you have children or for other reasons doesn’t matter but what does is having a set space that is free from other distractions as much as possible. This allows you to be more productive and focused by dedicating this area purely for work rather than just everyday life. There are a few things you can do to help make this easier, however.
Set aside some space
As mentioned, you’re going to get more done by having a set space for work. This doesn’t have to be a whole room, although that can help a lot, but it needs to be somewhere you associate with work more than anything else. Even setting yourself up at a table can be helpful but constantly having to move your work to and from it can prove tiresome after a while.
Sitting on the sofa or in your room might seem like an appealing idea at first but there will always be other things to distract you from what you should be doing and you won’t be able to distance yourself from work as easily when it’s finished for the day or week. A spare room – no matter how small – is the perfect space and you can fill it with the things you need to make a home office work for you, such as shelving, file storage or even our Satara Mango Dakota Tallboy.
Natural light is important
Natural light has been proven to improve focus and concentration levels so any space or room you choose should have plenty of this light to heap its benefits on you. You don’t have to be sat next to, facing or in front of a window but a good amount of light will definitely help. The office will also be more appealing to work in because it is a light and spacious area that you want to be in, as opposed to a shut off cubicle or closet where you see nothing of the outside world.
Mirrors are quite useful here too. They can help the light reach more of the room at different times of day and will make it look bigger and more spacious, even if you only use one. We’d recommend the Satara Mango Dakota Wall Mirror to fulfil every need you have in your home office.
Desks, seating and placement
A good desk is also incredibly important. Depending on the size of your room or office space and what you need it for, different desks will be more appropriate for you. You can see our full selection here but we are big fans of the Satara Mango Dakota Medium Computer Desk, which has storage space for your stationary and a computer in a neat and tidy way.
Not that you want to stand at your desk, so don’t forget the chair! Whether you go for a traditional and matching wood chair or something a bit more elaborate, it should still match your desk and room together so don’t rush in making a decision, choose the one that matches your needs.
