Furniture For Your Home, And Your Future
When it comes to furnishing your home, it’s more than just choosing pieces that fit your current style. It’s about creating a space that evolves
When space is at a premium, there’s only one way to go. Vertical storage, just like in the cities of the world, the only way is up.
This applies to compact homes, where the balance between storage and avoiding clutter is always a finely balanced knife edge.
This is where we have to be clever with our use of furniture, look further towards the ceiling. We often find we rarely go above waist height with furniture, and by incorporating high shelving, we can really open up our options.
Open shelving is a fantastic way to vastly increase our storage, without closing the room off. This is important as we are still allowing for accessible space.
By looking at taller furniture we can almost always increase the space given to living. This allows for a wider sofa because we’ve taken advantage of the empty space at height.
In this same manner using floating shelves is a great way of opening up the empty wall space. They're also a great way to increase your vertical storage.
Working with vertical storage is also a great way of maximising bedroom space. As once we’ve added a bed, it’s easy to forget how much space we’ve taken away. So tall boy chests are a great way to keep a small footprint whilst packing a lot of clothes in one place.
Whatever you do, really think about your needs in the home, and remember it’s not always about width with storage, height is always an option.
