Our Story

Casa Bella is a family run business starting from a small storage workshop in Westwood Wiltshire and expanding over the last decade and a half to the 15000sqft warehouse and 2000sqft showroom that we occupy today.

Our first warehouse

Starting small was the only option for Rob and Suzanne, a young couple who had only recently moved into their first home.

In the Spring of 2006 they received their first container of garden furniture from Java, Indonesia. Delivered into a 100sqft workshop space in the small village of Westwood, Wiltshire, they unloaded 200 packages of solid teak garden furniture (with the help of 3 family members).

Selling solely on eBay, they utilised their own garden as their photo studio, along with local fields, laybys and parks!

The couple quickly moved into a small warehouse space just outside Melksham, Wiltshire allowing for the receipt of the company’s first full season of garden furniture.

The summer of 2006 proved to be a successful one, solidifying the fact that importing handmade furniture from the far reaches of the world and selling them at affordable prices was something the couple wished to pursue.

The early years in the business were far from easy, with the floods of 2007 being particularly challenging for a garden furniture business.

For the first 6 years Suzanne and Rob were the sole workers at Casa Bella: Suzanne travelled back and forth to the warehouse during the day, taking customer phone calls wherever she may be, while Rob continued to commute full-time to his IT job in Bristol and work for the company in the evenings.

Following the challenging summer of 2007, Rob & Suzanne saw the need to diversify away from garden furniture.  The increasing popularity of Indian cabinet furniture caught their eye, and in Spring 2008 they took delivery of their first container of solid wood mango and sheesham furniture from Rajasthan, India.

This moment proved to be a key turning point for Casa Bella and the next few years saw the development of their first indoor furniture ranges, starting with their flagship range Dakota Mango, still one of their most popular ranges today.

Taking inspiration from existing furniture trends, Rob and Suzanne designed and implemented 3 ranges of Indian furniture which gained popularity over the next few years and led to the expansion of their premises, moving to a 2500sqft Warehouse in Westbury, Wiltshire.

We are passionate about contemporary, rustic furniture and we are always adding new designs; many of the products found on our site are completely unique to us and have been created to provide characterful, useful items for your home. We always ensure that the furniture we buy has been manufactured using ethically sourced materials. We feel strongly about the protection of the environment, and we only deal with factories that feel the same way as we do.

Over the following years, the business grew steadily into neighbouring warehouse space and so did the Casa Bella team.

Suzanne took a brief step back when the couple welcomed their first daughter in the summer of 2013. This gave rise to the employment of both warehouse and customer service staff which helped the company to continue to evolve and thrive with the introduction of new ranges and increased weekly deliveries to customers.

Over the years, Rob and Suzanne have held the positions of every role in the company at one time or another. Rob’s background in computer programming covered all of their IT requirements, while the couple’s keen interest in photography led to the set up of Casa Bella’s photo studio, used regularly for product photography.

In the Spring of 2016, shortly after the couple welcomed their second child, Casa Bella opened a shop in Trowbridge Wiltshire.

The opening of high street premises was the start of a whole new product offering for the business. For the first time, Casa Bella stocked furniture and accessories from British and European wholesalers, allowing the business to dramatically increase the number of furniture products they could offer their customers.

The 1200 sqft retail space, now stocked a range of furniture which included European oak and pine, British made sofas and armchairs and a range of home accessories from lamps to soft furnishings

The shop steadily grew in popularity for the duration of its 5 year lease and in the Spring of 2021, Casa Bella moved warehouse premises to the 15000sqft warehouse it now occupies today.

The shop moved with it, and now resides in a 2000 sqft showroom adjacent to the warehouse, displaying 13 of the company’s most popular ranges.

We now have a 3D Tour of the showroom for our customers who can’t make the trip here.

Casa Bella’s team has grown to 6 customer service team members, 4 warehouse staff and 2 jolly delivery drivers. We now hold over 3000 furniture products in stock at any one time, and operate two beautiful company vans, delivering across England, Scotland and Wales 6 days a week, 52 weeks a year.

We started this company over 16 years ago with the desire to transform our love of home interiors into a business that we could build with and for our family. Our commitment to our customers and our continued quest to design and source beautiful, sustainable furniture from some of the most beautiful areas of the world will always be what drives and inspires us.
