Sometimes the status quo stops being enough, sometimes we need to reimagine what we see visually, to suit true functionality. Introducing the Modern Bureau.
It's easy to find ourselves stuck within a rigid set of rules when approaching furniture, as we try and stay within the parameters already set out for us. We forget that when it comes to our own home, the only relevant opinion, is our own.
The most important thing when setting up a home work station, is to make sure it suits the purpose it's intended for. If you need plenty of monitor space, you need to allow for this, if you have to write at the desk, the height is important. And if you are just using a laptop, then maybe you don't need the largest desk.
If you need a lot of storage, but don't want everything to be on show after work. Or if you like to draw a clear distinction between worktime, and home time, then the hideaway desk is a fantastic option. When in use, it unfolds to create a compact but spacious workstation. However after use it blends subtly into the background, allowing you to enjoy your home life.
Even if you have multiple screens, a printer, and plenty of files, it doesn't mean you can't shut your work out of family time unless you have a separate room. With the large hideaway desk, you can encase an entire office within. Then, when closed you're left with a beautiful sideboard.
Remember, at its core, the main reason we work from home is because it's supposed to be more comfortable, more flexible, and allow us to create an environment that completely suits us. So don't hold back, really find an option that lends itself to your needs.
The days have long gone where we look to have a bureau or a writing desk. However that need is still there, for a place we can work from then tidy away when done. That's where the modern bureau is truly our next work from home option.
